Recently at a hotel near the Gokavaram bus stand on Wednesday night a major fire erupted following a cylinder blast, sending pilgrims into a tizzy.
3 Police Vehicles Damaged And 4 Injured In A Fire Accident Near Gokavaram Bus Stand :
According to sources, the blast occurred due to leakage in the LPG cylinder and soon spread like wildfire, gutting the hotel, damaging 15 vehicles parked nearby as well as a garment shop next door and injuring four people in the vicinity of the Gokavaram bus stand, which is about half a kilometer away from the ill-fated Pushkar Ghat where recently 29 people died in a stampede on July 14, first day of Godavari Pushkaralu.
According to the information by the sources, they were three vehicles of the police department, as well as cars, autos and 10 two-wheelers, were also completely damaged in the fire. Personnel from the fire and emergency services department rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
The Gokavaram bus stand is frequented by a large number of pilgrims, who head towards Pushkar Ghat as well as Kotilingala Ghat. Pilgrims also frequent the spot in order to buy food from various hotels located in the vicinity of the bus stand.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who was watching the arrangements of the Godavari Pushkaralu by himself as the incident happened on 14th July, to avoid such incidents again, and to provide better facilities for the pilgrims who come to join the Festive event too rushed to the spot soon after the fire occurred and told media persons that no fatalities were reported due to the fire at the hotel. He also interacted with pilgrims at the spot to get first-hand information about the incident.
