Home Minister R.Lalzirliana graced main function
Aizawl (mizonews.net): The 77th YMA Day was observed on June 15 across the state with enthusiasm and varied cultural programmes.
Some units organised social works in commemoration of the Day while in some places the Day was celebrated with competitions on various disciplines and even with traditional feast in some places.
Home Minister R. Lalzirliana graced the YMA Day programme at his constituency Keifang Venghlun Branch and at Saitual.
Lalzirliana told the YMA members that the yearly theme of YMA “Preserving the land and its people” doesn’t meant to hate others, but rather meant to be friendship with others.
He also said that in order to preserve the land and the people, the flaura and fauna needs to be preserved, otherwise “We won’t be able to make our land, a good place for the younger generations”. Further, he said that “chivalry or a helping hands is indeed a means to preserve the land, so it should be continued,” he said.
The Home Minister further said that communal feelings will destroy Mizo integrity, and added that the state government always want its people living together and loving each other. “And if there are any who have agitation, the government is always ready to hold negotiation,” the Home Minister said in an indirect reference to the Hmar Students’ Association proposed agitation in Kolasip district against the state government’s order not to allot house numbers and job cards under the MGNREGS to Hmars.
The Home Minister also lauded the YMA for helping the poor, widows and the needy by constructing houses for them, and also asked the YMA members to continue their work in fighting against intoxicants and their works of bettering the society.
The YMA Day programme at Saitual was organised by Joint YMA, Saitual, and was conducted by the Joint YMA President Ramchhuanmawia. At the programme, bravery awards were given to Lalremmawia Sailo and F. Lalrimawia, besides other programmes.
Likewise, the Day was observed by large number of people across the state.
