Aizawl (mizonews.net): Out of the 707 villages in Mizoram, 609 villages have electric power supply according to the Statistical Abstract of Mizoram: 2011 that was recently released by the Economic & Statistics department.

Now, 86.14% of the villages have electricity with all the villages under Champhai and  Serchhip districts  being connected to the power line. But, only 64% are the lucky lot in Lawngtlai district.

Between 2001-2002 to 2010-2011 it was estimated that there were 707 villages in Mizoram; and while from 2001-02 till 2004-05 the number of villages being provided with electricity have  increased.

No power line connection was given to any village during  2005-06 and 2009-10. “It was only during  2010-11 some villages started getting electricity,” the data pointed out.
