Cong govt cheating people with NLUP, says MNF

Aizawl (mizonews.net): The main opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) yesterday accused Congress government of “cheating the people of Mizoram” by claiming that its flagship programme, “NLUP fund is from ‘PM Special Package’ while on the contrary the fund was from normal fund received through Mizoram Plan”.

The MNF reaction comes in the wake of the NLUP Media Cell proclaimation that the “‘NLUP is from Special Package” on Tuesday last.

“As per the India Constitution Article 266 (1), (2), (3), there is a clear mentioned on how the State Consolidated Fund were received from the Centre and its implementation. The NLUP fund was never from from Special Package but from Mizoram Plan,” Zosangliana, General Secretary, Publicity Department,MNF Gen. Hqrs., said yesterday.

Describing various central fund, the MNF said that development schemes were received from various Central Sponsored Scheme (CSS) where numbers of funds were sent to State Consolidated Fund ( eg. PMGSY, SSA etc).

The MNF also said that right after the Congress government formed in the state, the state budget sees an alrming rise which indicates that the fund were from Mizoram Plan fund.

Putting forth the data on Mizoram Plan, the MNF said: “”If NLUP funds were from the ‘PM Special Package fund’ then it should not have affected the state plan budget. The increasing trend of Mizoram Plan Fund over the last four years are: 2008 – 2009 – Rs. 1,000 crore, 2009 – 2010 – Rs. 1,250 crore, 2010 – 2011 – Rs. 1,500 crore and 2011 – 2012 – Rs. 1,700 crore. These data clearly shows that the NLUP fund were from the Mizoram Plan Fund.”

Asking the Congress government “stop cheating” the people of Mizoram, the opposition which recently has become hyperactive, said: “The government should introspect its nature of cheating the people of Mizoram and should concentrate on being a guardian of Mizoram.”
