Aizawl (mizonews.net): Discrepancies have been detected in the Mizoram University’s Under Graduate Examination result which was declared recently.
Local media reports said some of the students who have been declared passed were later found to be having back subject. In addition to this, some students got higher marks than the toppers. That’s not all, some of the students who were placed in the first division did not get even cross the the pass mark.
The reports also said that in some cases all the marks of the papers were not added.
“While there are more than 100 candidates appearing from Lunglei JB College, only 16 have been displayed as appeared,” sources said.
Moreover, in one college, some papers of one B.Sc student was lost while another student who scored first division marks in all the papers except the one paper that was also “lost”, he has been declared “failed”, the report said.
Another source reported that the examination results was not declared simultaneously thereby creating differences in percentage between the first and the second results.
Reacting to the reports, the Examination Department of the university said the problem arose because “undue pressure for early declaration of the results; inadequate staff; slow work on the part of college teachers who evaluated papers”.
“The department is making necessary corrections. It was found that the system has generated some mistakes in results of certain courses. It is now rectified and corrections have been made resulting in slight alteration of the results,” ” said the department while admitting the mistakes.
The updated results will be announced soon, officials said.
The students community of the state including – the Mizo Students’ Union and the Mizo Zirlai Pawl – had taken up the issue with the university offcicial immediately after reports about the discrepancies.
