Bihar elections were about to start and high level election commission have visited Patna for 2 days to check the poll arrangements of Bihar.On Wednesday a high-level Election Commission (EC) team has interacted with senior administration officials to take note of the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls which has arrived in Patna on a two-day visit.
EC ( Election Commission) Team Visits Patna :
The EC team held a meeting with all the district magistrates and superintendents of police in the state to review poll preparations of all agencies, including the police, for smooth conduct of the upcoming state assembly polls, officials said.Deputy Election Commissioners Vinod Zutshi and Umesh Sinha, as well as Director General (Election Expenditure) led the team.
P K Das met Bihar Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ajay V Naik, Additional CEO R Lakshmanan. EC officials said Bihar Police Additional Director General (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar, Inspector General (Operations) Sushil M Khopde, CRPF IG Arun Kumar, senior officials from Income Tax and Excise Departments were present at the meeting as well.
A official from Election Commission said that all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police were called to Patna to attend the meeting. They were asked about their inputs regarding polls to 243 Assembly seats which are expected to be held in September-October this year.
Senior state officials will be met by Election Commisssion on Thursday also to discuss poll related strategies and preparatory work. Security issues related to holding of elections will also be identified by election commission as several districts in the state are affected by Left-Wing Extremism. Bihar shares a 552-km long border with Nepal.
