Aizawl (mizonews.net): Mizoram Industries Minister S. Hiato and P.C.Lawmsanga IPS, Principal Secretary, Industries Department attended the NEIIPP Mid Term Appraisal meeting at Guwahati yesterday.
The meeting chaired by Assam Industries Minister Bradyut Bordoloi was attended by Industries Minister from Sikkim and Nagaland besides Assam Parliamentary Secretaries and from other North East States Principal Secretary and Commissioner.
The meet stated that North East States are still facing hurdles due to complicated procedure and the failure in Central Excise Duty. Steps to overcome the impediments were discussed and resolutions thereof were taken in the meeting. Besides, the meeting expected that the existing Water Ways Subsidy will be quite useful when the Multi Modal Transport Project becomes successful.
The meeting was attended by B. Singh, Joint Secretary, DIPP Government of India, who said that she understands the problems faced by the North East States, and told the members in the meeting that she is ready to move the Government of India to solve such problems.
The Subsidy through NEIIPP could not be availed by Entrepreneur due to complicated procedures. The 80% subsidy available as of now is transport subsidy which even is difficult to avail because of many check lists. Implemented since 2007 the Mid Term Appraisal, if successful, will be of great help for the Industrial Units of the North East States, the meeting expected. Since the problems faced by the North East States are common the members in the meeting agreed to work together in future.
