Aizawl (mizonews.net): “Too much love will kill you,” a popular number by the 70s British rock band Queen came true for a Mizo man who was desperate to get back his ex-wife.
K Ronghaka, 47, from Bethlehem Vengthlang committed suicide by blasted himself up with 4/5 bundles of gelatin sticks just a few metres away from the house of his ex-wife Lalsanghliri in Zuangtui on Monday afternoon.
According to local media reports, Ronghaka failed to call back his wife who had left him. The place of occurance was said to be about 45 metres from the residence of his ex- wife. On learning the incidence, Bawngkawn Police rushed to the spot to probe the matter.
Ronghaka and Lalsanghliri were both a divorcee when they got married last year. Due to alleged repeated harassment and domestic violenceby her husband, Lalsanghliri asked her parents to take her back to her and as a result they were separated lawfully in accordance with tribal custom. After this, Ronghaka worked at a quarry and Lalsanghliri moved in to her her parents home at Zuangtui.
Police said Ronghaka could not live without her and he used to call her over phone regularly. Recently his called was attended by Lalnunsangi (Masangi), sister of Lalsanghliri during which Ronghaka told Masangi that he still love her sister and if he happens to die then it will be because of his love for her.
On June 17, Ronghaka visited his ex-wife in an inebriated condition and slept at the common room. He again went to her taking 4/5 bundles of gelatin sticks with him and tried to persuade Lalsanghliri to accept him again. However, the sweet conversation turned into anger, Lalronghaka tried to blow himself up infront of her where Lalsanghliri stopped him from doing so.
And after a few minutes later, there was a loud explosion just 45 metre away from her house. At first, Lalsanghliri thought that Ronghaka’s threat was not for real but when neighbor rushed to the spot there was a body completely blown up in the head region, police said.
Police took the body for post mortem at Aizawl Civil Hospital after which it was handed over to the the man’s parents at Bethlehem Vngthlang.
