Jaipur: Reportedly, the construction of rapid transit systems currently is going on in 15 cities across India and Jaipur Metro rail is the fastest one to complete in a record time of nearly four-and-a-half-years. Jaipur city now will become the sixth city in the country with a Metro rail and the services are also expected to start from this very 3rd June which reports that Jaipur can found in the map of the cities with Metro services. When considered among the developing countries, India is only country with very slow progress in developing Rapid transit.
Jaipur Metro, touted as one of the fastest built metro systems:
The Rapid transit in India consists of bus, metro, monorail and light rail systems. In the year 2009 itself, Indian government has decided to invest 2000 billion rupees on metro rail projects in the following ten years. Our Honorable Union Urban Development Minister Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu announced that the Union Government is willing to assist and implement metro rail system to the Indian cities which are having population in excess of 10 Lakhs. The other Indian cities with a metro rail facility are Kolkata, Gurgaon, Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
According to reports, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has opened the services by waving a flag at 11AM and from the close sources it was heard that the services will be open to public from 2 PM itself on the same day. The Metro rail manager of Jaipur estimated a total of 1.2 lakh passengers to travel daily. He further detailed that a total of ten trains will be making 131 trips on the first six days of the week and then only makes 115 trips on Sunday.
Jaipur Metro Rail Services Details:
The services will run from 6:45 in the morning to 9PM in the evening and the tickets fare would be in the range of rupees 5 to 15. This fastest built metro will be of 9.63 kilometer elevated stretch and have nine stations which connect the Mansarovar and Chandpole areas of the Jaipur city. For every Half an hour, a metro will be available to the citizens of Jaipur. The first rapid transit system in an India city was the Kolkata Metro which was built in the year 1984 itself.
But however, when the modern metros are considered it is The Delhi Metro which was India’s first modern metro and the overall third rapid transit system in India. Chennai started its services in the year 200 and Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon had started its operations in November 2013, is India’s first privately owned and operated metro. Since the closing of the Patiala State Monorail, now Mumbai is the only city that services a Monorail.
