Mizoram govt fails to pay, 19 Mizo students face expulsion

Aizawl (mizonews.net): Expressing grave concern over the decision of principal of Imphal Sainik School to expell 19 Mizo students as they could not clear their school fees, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) has apprised Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla of the issue.

They have submitted a written request to him to help the  students.

MZP said that 25% of the students’ fees is to be paid by the Mizo students of Sainik School on their own while while 75% is to be paid by the Mizoram School Education Department.

“The Department on their part is still unable to pay its share for both 2011-12 session and 2012-13,” the student body said.

MZP said that the Mizo students of Sainik School “are now in great despair”..

They said they had also informed the issue to the education department a number of times and even Sainik School officials had  sent letter regarding the fees.

“We earnestly request you to kindly take steps to solve the problem of the students at the earliest,” MZP wrote in its letter to CM.

Meanwhile, MZP also said it has come to their knowledge that one Secretary of Mizoram government who is nearing his pension is asking for extension. “We have asked the DP&AR Minister H Liansailova not to extend the service,” MZP said.

“Extending the service of any employees of Mizoram government is against the interset of MZP, considering the future of the many job-seeking youths,” MZP claimed.

“We do not accept it and we are strongly against extending of the service of some unspecialized officers and who are disreputed,”,they added.
