Mizoram govt will help set up YMA branches: Lalrinliana

Aizawl (mizonews.net): When the 77th Young Mizo Association (YMA) day was observed across the state on June 15, various programmes attended by ministers  were organised to mark the day. It was also a day when the state ministers try to woo the members of the organisation and the public. These are their statements on  political and communal issues, besides others.

Health Minister Lalrinliana while gracing the YMA Day programme at Khawzawl in an  indirect reference to the demand of the Hmar People Convention (Democratic) for Sinlung Hills Autonomous District Council said that “if there are some people who tries to divide Mizoram, the government will go on fighting against them.”  “If there are any, who want to split and make Mizoram smaller, the state government will fight against it…even in such places where the forming of YMA is not allowed, the state government will let it formed again,” he added.

It maybe noted that the HPC (D) has issued a diktat for dissolution of all YMA branches in their demand areas covering Sinlung Hills after Central YMA President T. Sangkunga’s alleged speech on January 30 at Ramhlun Sports Complex that he had convinced Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla not to accept the Hmar rebels demand. “We are thankful that CM Lal Thanhawla and his Ministry accepted our request not to upgrade the Sinlung Hills Development Council into Autonomous District,” Sangkhuma was quoted as saying by local media.

However, Home Minister R. Lalzirliana who is under attacked for his ministry’s handling of the HPC-D issue along with the controversial order to prevent Hmar Mizos in Kolasib district from getting job cards under the MGNREGS preferred to take a conciliatory approach. Gracing the YMA Day programme at his constituency in Keifang Venghlun Branch and at Saitual he took the opportunity to tell the YMA members that the yearly theme of YMA “Preserving the land and its people” doesn’t meant to hate others, but rather meant to be friendship with others.

“Communal feelings destroy the Mizo integrity,” he said adding that the state government always wants its people living together and loving each other.

“And if there are any who have agitation, the government is always ready to hold negotiation,” the Home Minister said.

It is shameful to have a Home Minister like Lalzirliana who dont know the difference between creation of ADC and disintegration of a state.

I guess you are referring to the Health minister Lalrinliana’s statement. My humble view on the ADC is that it should be given immediately else we Mizos face a greater prospect of being disintegrated. I can’t imagine our Hmar brothers and sisters breaking away from the Mizo society. If provocative statements are being continuously issued they will get more agitated and move further away. ADC will in turn secure Mizoram borders.
