Lalchhuanga while expressing his gratitude to the University Grant Commission (UGC) for taking steps towards ”enrichment” of Mizo history by sponsoring a national seminar on ‘Mizoram: Origins, Myths, Legends and Socio-Political Development’ said “more research should be done on Mizo history.”
The seminar organised by History Department of Government Serchhip College on Saturday, was attended by experts from Mizoram Univeristy and from various Mizoram colleges.
“We are still poor in terms of historical research and as such Mizo historians needs to take more research,” he said.
He also advised the students community to have a thirst for in-depth knowledge and wider knowledge. “Students should not simply read History as a tale, but to study the good lessons and knowledge embedded in the subject.”
K. Remthanga, Principal, Government Serchhip College said that this was the first time the college hosted a seminar. “This kind of seminar helps the students in leading them to the right path and other departments should follow suit,” he opined.
