44.94% of Mizoram Budget is for government employees!

Aizawl (mizonews.net): Whether you like it or not, the Mizoram Budget for 2012-13 as presented by Finance Minister H. Liansailova is not for the common man. It has been designed to cater to the welfare of the state government employees.

The estimated budget for salary of government employees and for pensioners is Rs. 2326.48 crore, that is 44.94% from the total budget.

As mentioned in the Budget presented by Liansailova, Rs. 1,615 crore from Non-Plan, Rs. 416.15 crore from Plan, and from CSS Rs. 25.97 crore has been earmarked for the salary of government employees.

As such, 39.75% of the Mizoram Budget is specifically for the salary of government employees, while Rs. 268.72 crore is for pensioners.

In the mean time, in the Works Programme prepared in the ongoing Assembly budget session, General Administration Department and Rural Development department has been excluded, as the two departments had not submitted necessary details during stipulated time, reports says.

Reports further added that during the time first given by Planning department for submission of Works Programme, most of the government departments did not submit, because of which the stipulated time had been even extended, and it was notified to submit the same by all the departments during the extended time.

However, the General Administration Department and Rural Development department failed to do so, as a result of which the GAD and RD departments has been declared as ‘defaulter’ in the Work Programme.
