HZP demands suspension of PWD E-in-C and PWD Accountant
Aizawl (mizonews.net): The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) is yet to file a chargesheet against three PWD officials who are accused of corruption.
PWD Engineer-in-Chief Lianchungnunga, Ex-E-in-C Liansanga and Accountant B Thanpuia were arrested by the police on over Serkhan-Bagha road construction scam and were later released on bail.
Moreover, two of the three arrested officials who are in service are not yet suspended even as the Hmarphei Zirlai Pawl (HZP) insisted action against them.
Reports said that as per search warrant given by the Court, the ACB had verified the assets of the PWD officials with their income. The ACB has submitted an FIR in the court, but chargesheet has not been filed. It is not known when they will do it.
The ACB has reportedly found some facts regarding the allegation of corruption against the PWD officials over construction of Serkhan-Bagha road.
Hmarphei Zirlai Pawl (HZP) leaders yesterday convened a press conference at Aizawl Press Club, in which they informed the steps taken for the development of their area. HZP President B Vanlaltana said they had asked the details of the construction work of their area through RTI Act and the response (document) which they got shows that huge amount had been spent for construction and resurfacing of roads whereas “one can hardly see the work done in reality”. “We are embarrassed and it hurts our feelings,” HZP President said.
B Vanlaltana said that they had submitted the FIR to the ACB on November 3, 2009. “There’s nothing personal regarding the FIR we have filed. We just want to bring out the truth,” HZP President said.
According to HZP, the PWD had received Rs 776.36 lakh during 2006-2009 for resurfacing of Serkhan-Bagha road. Further, in addition adding to the amount of Rs 100 lakhs it received on March 14, 2003, the total amount became Rs. 876.36. The PWD had recorded Rs. 600.50 as its expenditure on resurfacing of 75 km.
In the meantime, investigation carried out by HZP and PRISM- during October 10-12, 2009, found that the road resurfaced by PWD is only 12.80 km. long.
