Ballot papers for President Election reach Aizawl

Aizawl (mizonews.net): Ballot papers for the 14th Election of India President on July 19 reached the state capital yesterday from New Delhi under tight security.

H. Lalengmawia, Jt. CEO and Vanlalnghenga, Addl. Secretary, Mizoram Legislative Assembly brought the materials from Election Commission of India on Sunday.

Police have been deployed from New Delhi to Aizawl Treasury strong-room where the materials are kept at under the guidance of Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretary and the appointed Returning Officer Ngurthanzuala at Aizawl Treasury strong-room.

As per schedule, on July 19 voting will begin at 10.00 A.M and end at 5.00 P.M. Members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly will cast their votes at the Committee Room, on the second floor of Assembly Building. The ballot box will be taken to New Delhi on July 20.

Counting of votes will be on July 22 from 11.00 A.M. at Room No 63 of Returning Officer’s office, Parliament House, New Delhi.

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma and former Union Finance Minister P Pranab Mukherjee are the only two candidates.

The total value of the votes of MLAs and MPs of India is 1098882 and one of them need to get 50% of the total votes cast plus 1 more vote to be elected as the President of India.
