Mizo Cultural Artistes’ Association marks 14th anniversary

Aizawl (mizonews.net): The Mizo Cultural Artistes’ Association, affiliated to the Art & Culture Department of Mizoram, today celebrated its 14th Rising Day here at the I&PR Auditorium.

Besides a discussion on this year’s theme ‘Respect for Elders’ (‘Aia Upa Zah’), the day witnesses variety of cultural shows.

Chief Guest Art & Culture Director Ngurbiaka said that the culture department “is one of the smallest departments with less funding.”

“It functions only with the help of some contributors. However, since mega cultural policy is undertaken at the national level, inter-state cultural programmes for promoting cultural values could still be conducted by the department, Ngurbiaka,” he said.

Saying that the most important principle for any organisation is unity, Ngurbiaka said money is only for proper functioning. “MCAA should be careful,” he said.

He also expresssed gratitude to the leaders and members of the association for taking steps to promote arts and culture in the state.

Ngurbiaka also donated Rs 5,000/- to the MCAA.

The Mizo Cultural Artistes Association came into being on July 9, 1998.
