Aizawl (mizonews.net): Two lovers from Aizawl are still missing even as search operations are underway to locate them.
Zothansanga, 20-year-old s/o. Zothantluanga Zotlang and his 18-year-old girlfriend Ruth Lalawmpuii d/o. V.Lalmuankima Ramhlun South were last spotted on Saturday evening and they are believed to have been drown by sudden flood.
Local reports said that they were believed to be drown in the flash flood due to heavy rains on last Saturday evening and carried away to the Tlawng river by the strong water current.
Lalawmpuii who lived with her grandfather Lalthianghlima in Ramhlun North and Zothansanga were seen taking shelter under a culvert between Dinthar and New Capital while it was raining.
The two wheeler used by couple was also parked near the culvert with a steering locked.
“They could have been carried away by the sudden flood as they were in contact with their relatives before the rains. But after the rain stopped they could not be reached,” sources said.
Search operations begun on Sunday morning in 9 localities of Zotlang and Ramhlun North after the two did not return home on Saturday night.
Locals and officials have been combing Tlawng river and an information centre was set up at Tuithumhnar. No further information was received when this report was filed.
