Aizawl (mizonews.net): Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the largest student body in Mizoram, has demanded an apology from Punjab legislator Ajit Singh Mofar for his ‘proposal’ to send stray dogs to the north east including Mizoram.
Mofar on June 28 had put up a proposal in Punjab Assembly for “send all stray dogs” to the northeast states in order tackle the canines menace in Punjab.
In an open letter to the Punjab MLA, the MZP said: “In any circumstances we do not see any utilization of those stray dogs. We in any case cannot let it go, as we feel it discriminating and racist as for whole the Mizo nation as it really hurts our sentiments.”
Agreeing that there have been some people who like to eat dog meat, the MZP said that these dog meats which are consumed are “not stray dogs or street dogs; they are well fed and are in a very healthy condition”.
The students also said that “we the MZP (Mizo Students’ Association) request you to apologize as early as possible.”
