Mizoram Anganwadi workers receive cash award

Aizawl (mizonews.net): The cash award given by Union Ministry of Women and Child Development to best Anganwadi Workers was handed over to the 5 best workers in Mizoram by Social Welfare Minister P.C. Lalthanliana yesterday.

The award function was held at Vanapa Hall which was presided by Social Welfare Director Vanlaldini.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said those people who carry out their task with their best efforts are most admirable.

The minister also said  that as of now there is not enough Anganwadi Centres in Mizoram as desired, and, in the mean time, added that, while building, foods and wages for   workers are provided by the government, the management and execution of works are to large extent the responsibility of the  parents and the villagers.  Steps are being taken in moving the Centre in order that Mizoram may have more Anganwadi Centres, the Minister mentioned.

Social Welfare Commissioner & Secretary Ranbir Singh, who also spoke on the occasion, said one of the requirements of India in today’s world is to have vision and to seek ways for the progress and development for the children and their mothers. To develop the child amidst of the fast growing gap in wealth and the problem in society due to discrimination between man and women, depends upon the Anganwadi Workers to great extent.

The 5 Anganwadi Workers who received the Cash Award are 1). B.Sangthuami, Khawzawl Anganwadi Center 3, Khawzawl ICDS; 2). Lalhmunmawii, Durtlang North-I Anganwadi Center, Tlangnuam ICDS; 3). Hmingthansangi, Tualcheng Anganwadi Center Champhai ICDS; 4). Tlangchhuanmawii, Zawngin Anganwadi Center I, Phullen ICDS and  5). Zohmingthangi, Saron Veng Anganwadi Center-II, Urban ICDS.  Besides the Cash Award Rs. 5000 plus Citation, the Minister-in also presented Mizo handloom bag to each to them.

At present, there are 1980 Anganwadi Centers and 27 ICDS Projects in Mizoram; and another 252 Anganwadi Centers is being asked from the Cenral Government.
