No need to worry about compensation: Lalsawta
Aizawl (mizonews.net): Higher & Technical Education Minister Lalsawta said that NIT site was shifted from Thenzawl to Lengpui as per the wishes of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
In reply to MNF member C. Ramhluna who said that since there had been dispute in the past over compensation regarding the site for Mizoram University, the state government is very careful in dealing with the NIT, Lalsawta said: “We had proposed Thenzawl for the site of NIT previously thinking there would be no enough land at Lengpui; but later the Ministry of Human Resource Development came to know that there is good site for NIT at Lengpui, they liked it; moreover, after they inspected the site for the second time, they became more interested; and since it is believed that there would be no problem over compensation, it has been finalized for the site of NIT.”
Stating that the government shared the opposition’s view on MZU issue, Lalsawta said: “Even after affidavit and all promises were made at the time of finalizing the site for MZU, when actual work was to begin, the people jointly sought compensation, as a result of which Rs. 1,700 lakhs had to be given. The Ministry of Human Resource Development did not understand and were hesitant to give at that time, but compensation was given after it an understanding was reached.”
