Aizawl (mizonews.net): Mizoram Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister H. Rohluna informed the State Assembly that the government was doing its best to get supply of cooking gas by better management.
He said that selection had been made for new gas agent at Kulikawn and a ‘letter of intend’ had also been sent to the same on 25th January 2012. But due to slow work on the part of the new agent, a ‘warning’ has been given three times by the IOC to the new agent.
In reply to INC member Lt.Col. ZS Zuala, the minister said he had informed the selected new gas agent at Kulikawn to Indian Oil Corporation in time; but the new agent was very slow because of which IOC Sr. Area Manager has given ‘warning’ to the new agent on June 18, July 3 and July 28, 2012. If the new agent is not able to work as required after the warning, it will be cancelled, he said.
Rohluna, in reply to INC member K.Lianzuala further said, the new gas agent for Chhingchhip under RGGLV is expected to be finalized by September 1; and replying MDF Member PP Thawlla question regarding RGGLV selected new agent at Tuipang, he said the new agent is not working as required, comparing to the other selected new agents in the neighbouring villages.
In response to ZNP member K Liantlinga query, H Rohluna said, for proper and adequate supply of gas for Mizoram “the Central officials and IOC officials have been requested a number of times for more supply of gas, and the latter are responding accordingly.”
Rohluna also mentioned that the emergency reserve has been stopped and the distributor reserve also being decreased from 20 to 10 cylinders so that the public may get more than any others.
Regarding the problem with the proposed upgradation of Mualkhang Bottling Plant, H Rohluna said, “steps are being taken in order to solve the problem, and on May 18 when the IOC officials visited Mizoram they were suggested to negotiate with the land owners; and solution to the problem is being sought,” the Minister added. Regarding the high compensation claimed for the land of Mualkhang Bottling Plant, the House leader, Deputy Speaker John Rotluangliana, suggests even- that if re-assessment is possible, and if the directed District Collector finds difficulty in re-assessment, another person may be appointed.
