Mizoram political parties pledge for free Assembly polls

Political parties gear up for election next year

Aizawl (mizonews.net): In view of the forthcoming Mizoram Assembly Election next year the Mizoram People Forum (MPF), a Presbyterian  Curch-sponsored poll watchdog had signed MoUs with major political parties of the state for conducting free and fair election.

The parties include MPCC, MPC, ZNP, MNF and the BJP.

As many as 27 points were agreed upon by the political partie. One of these terms is that parties should make election manifestos which they could implement.

If the political party violate any one of the 27 points, the MPF will make it known to the public that such a party had broken its promises, a move that is expected to create a form of check on the political parties.

The MoU signing programme was presided by MPF president Rev.Thangzauva, Synod Moderator and all political party’s representatives attended the meeting.

Some cooperation rules state that every party will try their best to have free and fair election; only the citizen of India should cast their vote; no political party should drop the voters to their polling station by means of a vehicles; the MPF will check whether any onne indulge in demanding money to the candidates and to the political parties; house to house campaign is allowed till 10 days before the election, after that, no candidate should do house to house campaign; selling and buying vote is strictly prohibited and no candidate should distribute some material like silpaulin, Jersy, football, mobile handset, NLUP etc.; no protest rally should be organised 10 days before the election; a fixed number of banner, flag, poster are made to follow etc,.
