Aizawl (mizonews.net): The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) has stopped students from attending classes in Mamit to protest against the Congress government for “not paying heed” to their demand to fill vacant teaching posts in the district.
On Friday, students of Serchhip Higher Secondary School did not attend their classes despite going to the school.
The students’ body had asked the government to resolve the issue before the conclusion of the Budget Session.
As reported by the leaders of Mamit MZP, between 2003 to July 18, 2012, as many as 27 teachers of SSA and RMSA were transferred from Mamit to Aizawl and Kolasib districts. “But till today, all the posts that had been left vacant are not filled up, for which we urged the state government to fulfil the requirement, but since no reaction is seen, we can’t help but show our agitation,” the MZP leaders said.
In another incident, students of Serchhip Higher Secondary School since last Thursday have stopped attending classes to as part of the protest. The students are planning to put up posters in several places across the town besides staging a rally on Tuesday.
Serchhip Higher Secondary School students in July had also refrained from attending classes to protest the transfer of two teachers from their school since there were no replacements. The state government had then posted two RMSA teachers. However, recently the two RMSA teachers returned to their earlier posting.
