Aizawl (mizonews.net): The new scheme of the Central government for the development of people in rural areas, the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) will be carried out in Mizoram shortly.
Kolasib District and Serchhip District are the two districts in the state where the Mission will be first implemented.
In this connection, Smitha Jacob Senior Consultant, Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi on Wednesday visited Khamrang village in inspecting the things to be covered up by the Scheme in Kolasib District.
The development programme SGSY, which had been carried out previously will be replaced by the NRLM. The scheme aims to cover all the BPL families in each rural village, such that the government will provide for their needs in economic. Besides other assistance provision will also be made for Bank Loan. Under NRLM, all the Self Help Groups (SHGs) in each village will have joint venture, to which materials and other needs will be provided.
While visiting Khamrang village, the Senior Consultant had conducted a study on the functioning of Lawngthing Zau SHG and held review on the progress they had made. She also inspected on how there is possibility of difference in carrying out the programme of NRLM in NE States, including Mizoram, in comparison to that of states in Central India.
Senior Consultant was accompanied during the inspection visit by Maria CT Zuali Project Director DRDA, Kolasib and Saizikpuii Sailo BDO Thingdawl, besides SIRD experts
