Over 80 vehicles fined in Mizoram for sun control film

Aizawl (mizonews.net): Following the Supreme Court’s direction that restricts  sun control films in vehicle windows, Lunglei DTO, MVI enforcement, and traffic police sleuths yesterday fined more than 80 vehicle owners in Lunglei city on the first day of the inspection drive, reports reaching here said.

As per media reports from Lunglei, officials caught 10 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs. 500 on each vehicle, while Lunglei traffic police caught 73 vehicles, and imposed a fine of Rs. 400 each.

MLA vehicle held up

In the meantime, the vehicle of Law Commission Chairman Pu R. Lalrinawma, Bolero MZ-01 E-5353, which was on its way from Tuipang to Aizawl was also held up in Lunglei on charge of violating the law by putting sun control film at the upper front of the vehicle and on the side mirror. Officials said that the vehicle also sported cloth on the rear of the vehicle. However, the MLA, said that since he is a law maker the traffic police let him g, media reports from Lunglei said.

Regarding the incident, R Lalrinawma said that by quoting his driver who said: “Even during the Assembly Session…the traffic police his driver that it was not necessary, and moreover they did not complain in Aizawl”.

And, replying to the traffic police who claimed that it is restricted by the law, the MLA was quoted as saying: “We know the law, therefore we take off the sun control from the place it is restricted.”
