Serchhip district begins preparations for Independence Day

Aizawl (mizonews.net): Mizoram’s Serchhip District is gearing up for the upcoming Independence Day’s celebrations.

A meeting in this regard was held at Serchhip DC’s Meeting Hall under the chairmanship of the District DC P.Lalchhuanga. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments, besides representatives of village councils and other voluntary organisations.

A public function will be held at Khawtetlang playground in New Serchhip on August 15 at 10:30 AM.

Like the previous years, Independence Day Parade will be conducted in which 2 Armed Contingents (Police & 14 Assam Rifles) and 21 Un-armed Contingent 21 are expected to participate. There will be judges of the Parade, who will select the best contingent; and prizes will be given to the winners.

A citation will also be given to children bravery award winners -Jeevan Raksha Pradhak awardee- Lalpuihzuali, Baktawng Tlangnuam village.

Work responisbilities have been given to to ensure power supply, fresh drinking water, first aid, decoration and others.

On Independence Day morning, donations will be given to Serchhip JNM Hospital, Zoar Children’s Home, Orphanage Home, Shalom Special School, and Chhiahtlanga Adult Rehabilitation Centre (ARC). Moreover, ‘D.C’s at Home’ programme will also be held at D.C. Bungalow premises, at 12:00 Noon on the Independence Day.

Serchhip D.C. has asked all the government departments to be present.

The preparedness of the various departments will be reviewed again on August 10, 2012.
