Aizawl (mizonews.net): In connection with the plan to establish Mizoram State Cancer Institute at Zemabawk here in the city, visiting Special Director of Health Services Dr.N.K.Mohanty and Chief of Cancer Hospital at the AIIMS Prof.G.K.Nath held talks with Chief Minister Lalthanhawla on Monday.
In addition to the proposed plan, they also discussed the proposed Medical College at Falkawn.
Sent by the Central government, the two doctors informed the Chief Minister that with all the funding from central government T.B.Hospital at Zemabawk would be upgraded for cancer patients with capacity of 35 beds. This centre will later be upgraded to Mizoram State Cancer Institute with 100 beds.
The doctors also said that it would be necessary to shift all the big clinical departments of Civil Hospital to Referral Hospital at Falkawn so that the Medical College could be established during the current financial year. The funding for this is also to be given by the central government.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by wife Lal Riliani and Secretary, Health Services Esther Lalruatkimi.
