Aizawl (Mizonews.Net): Heaping praises on the Mizoram Taxation Department for its “smooth functioning and timely-rendering of services to the people”, Taxation Minister Zodintluanga said.
“The department has provided commendable service to the tax payers as well as to the businesspersons by organizing programmes with latest technology thereby easing the task of tax payment,” he said.
The minister said this on Tuesday during the first day of E-Audit Module Training being organized by the Taxation Department at Mizoram Legislative Assembly Annexe Conference Hall.
The minister also said that owing to the good service of the Taxation Department, the state income has increased, adding, the same have been used profitably for development of the State. “To enhance better and faster Internet service, work for Optical Fibre Cable is also undertaken by PGCIL,” Zodintluanga added.
He also stated that Rural Information Kiosk has been carried out in the 300 villages of remote rural places. “Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) meant to enhance employment opportunity to Mizo youths is also being set up,” he said.
Since 2005 when Value Added Tax (VAT) was introduced in Mizoram, the Taxation Department felt that the same would not be successful without computerisation and technoloy upgrage was done immediately. Moreover, since 2010 when e-Governance Project was launched, the department has made arrangement such e-services like E-Registration, E-Return, E-CST Forms, E-Way E-Filing of Invoice, and E-Payment, have been rendered to the people. After rendering such e-services, the Department has now come up with e-Audit Module by which it can detect any discrepancy in the payment of tax. E- Audit Module is expected to help the Department Officials in their works and also boost the government revenue.
The programme of E-Audit Module Training inauguration was conducted by Taxation Commissioner Lalthangliana Varte. Lalhmachhuana, Secretary ICT, Lalthlamuana, Chief Informatics Officer, ICT Department and Lallianmawii, State Informatics Officer, NIC were also present. The training was attended by over 60 taxation department officials.
