Aizawl (mizonews.net): Mizoram Art & Culture Minister P.C. Zoram Sangliana on Saturday inaugurated the Naltea Memorial Chaltlang Branch YMA Library, the first computerized library in the state.
The programme was held at Chaltlang YMA Hall here in the state capital.
Chaltlang Branch YMA Library has been listed among the top ten libraries from 459 recognised libraries of Mizoram. Art & Culture Minister Zoram Sangliana said while congratulating Chaltlang Branch YMA for setting up the first computerised library.
The minister said “culture can flourish only where peace and harmony prevails” and “it is through our culture that the world recognize us”.
“In the modern world of science and technology, it is important for everyone to have computer knowledge, otherwise you are regarded illiterate. Therefore, the computerisation of Chaltlang Branch YMA Library is a welcome step,” the minister said.
He also advised the YMA members to develop the habit of reading books to gain knowledge and wisdom and also encourage the same to the younger generation.
Chaltlang Branch YMA Library Computerisation has been developed from the fund sponsored byRaja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation (RRMRLF). It carries 2 computer set, a TV and DVD player.
The Library computerisation inauguration programme was conducted by Chaltlang Branch YMA Vice President Hnamhlunchhunga, and was attended by leaders of local council, MUP, MHIP and Mizoram Library Association among others.
At present, Chaltlang Branch YMA Library has 3766 books and 434 childrens’ books; and registered 184 adult library members and 125 children members.
