Dharamshala: Feared by the threats of dire consequences by the unidentified supporters of the self styled god man Asaram Bapu, a freelance cartoonists based at the district headquarters here has filed a complaint at Kangra district police headquarters late evening on Saturday stating that he is receiving threatening calls on his phone and social networking site Face book.
Arvind Sharma is in the profession from last five year and is attached with many newspapers. He has worked for many Hindi National dailies and weekly papers for making cartoons on important news items.
Sharma had told the police that he had made some caricatures on Asaram after his arrest by Jodhpur police in a sexual assault case for which he is facing the brunt.
Sharma told that the first he had received a threat by Vineet Tiwari based in Chandigarh on his face book account through social networking on Friday. “Since Friday I have been receiving numerous calls from unknown number. They are threatening me of dire consequences if I make more cartoons on Asaram and are using abusive language,” said Sharma.
Sharma has also met Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Hitesh Lakhanpal seeking appropriate action on his complaint.
Police has however have maintained that appropriate action would taken against the wrongdoers but investigations are needed to see the facts in the case. It would be on the merits only that action would be taken against the people who are making threatening calls.
