Hyderabad: Alleging a deep-rooted conspiracy to physically harm its jailed president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy, YSR Congress Party Thursday demanded a high-level probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court on its complaints.

The party alleged that there was a sudden power shutdown in Chanchalguda Central Jail, where Jagan is currently lodged. It also referred to an incident in which Jagan was brought to court in an ordinary police vehicle without any security.

“There is a threat to our leader’s life,” said party legislator Karunakar Reddy, who along with other party legislators staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the assembly premises.

On a day when Jagan’s mother Y.S. Vijayamma was elected as the leader of 17-member legislature party, the new-elected legislators went on the offensive staging the protest, which led to their arrest by police.

The party alleged that there is a conspiracy to harm Jagan by forcibly conducting narco analysis test on him.

YSRC also targeted Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana for selectively leaking information to some rival media houses.

The party released the details of the phone calls made by the CBI official, who is heading the probe into Jagan’s illegal assets.

Talking to reporters, YSRC spokesman Ambati Rambabu demanded the central government to immediately sack Lakshminarayana for showing bias in the investigations.

According to the note released by the party, Vasireddy Chandrabala made 328 calls to Lakshminarayana while the latter called him 411 times during last two months. The party asked the CBI official to reveal who Chandrabala is.

The service rules of CBI emphatically say that its officials cannot talk to media directly and any press release should be circulated through Press Information Bureau (PIB).

The YSR Congress said the frequency of calls was dense enough to raise questions over the sanctity of the investigations. The party offered to provide call details to inquiry commission.
