Moscow, June 21 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A couple from Uzbekistan living in Russia has been sentenced to four years in prison for selling their newborn daughter.

In February, 32-year-old Gulnora Karabayeva gave birth to a daughter with her 21-year-old boyfriend, Bakhodir Dzhourayev, in Obninsk city in central Russia’s Kaluga region.

The couple was arrested after Karabayeva sold her for $500 to an undercover police officer.

The child is now under social care in a hospital.
