Book: Let Her Rest Now
Author: Vijay Nair
Pages: 256
Publisher: Hachette India
One of the first kickers that came to my mind at a glance of this book was whether it should be reviewed at all.
Reluctantly, I turned the pages as to see how to let myself a rest as soon as possible because, I thought, it has just a few pages.
But as I kept on reading the simple narration and the rather weird angle grab hold of my urge to know what follows when you are ripped apart by your instincts to find the killer of your mom and to suspect none but your best friend.
The plot set in beautiful Coonoor hills has Neha looking for her mother’s killer despite believing that she wanted to do nothing about it. She is soon presented a world wherein she had to decide friend from foes, sexual orientations, a
psychopathic step-father and unwelcomed neighbours.
I once tried to write a small town thriller myself long a go, but it never materialised. Now, after reading Nair’s rather small book by most thriller books standard, I realised that a good story in a small town could create a such a pleasant reading. I must admit, I’m re-inspired.
I wouldn’t call it perfect or a racy thriller, but the curiosity created around the plot and the characters make me love this book.
