Another day and time for yet another big fight in IPL 10. Tough contenders and the finalists of 2014 IPL, KIXP and KKR are gearing up for the match at the Eden Gardens that will commence in a few mins.
If Kolkata wins this match, it will be the 8th consecutive record victory against Kings Eleven Punjab. Another record of 8 consecutive wins and loses is between RCB and DD. Coming to the ongoing match between KKR and KXIP, the host team KKR is eyeing on winning the game in the home ground after a photo finish loss to Mumbai Indians in the last match at the Eden Gardens.
Kolkata looks promised with a package equal strengths all other departments who can paly in tough conditions to win the game anyway and fight back. Kings XI Punjab is looking strong on the paper as usual, but it still has to do well to prove its worth like it did in 2014. It is again Kolkata who won that game and the tournament as well. Though the team looks stronger than Kolkata with match winners till the tailenders, the side lacks the team spirit and it finished at the bottom in the last season of the IPL.
KKR Game Plan in IPL 10
Kolkata’s key player Chris Lynn is staying away from this match after an unfortunate recurrence of a troublesome shoulder pain, which made him mandatory rest for the coming games. Apart from him, KKR still has other key players in the team like Shakib Al Hasan and Umesh Yadav.
Kolkata felt strong with the presence of Chris Lynn, but since he is out of the team, all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme is on the team to contribute his role for the win. There is a fixed formula for KKR in T20 format. Starting with the batting line-up, they have a good batsman who can put a reasonable score to defend for their bowlers like Sunil Narine, who has been crucial for KKR for the past few seasons.
Their formula has worked well so far and the team might not change the game plan and move with the same strategy which the other teams might find it easy to crack.
KIXP Game Plan in IPL 10
With just two games in the season, Kings Eleven Punjab has shown an inclination towards their game plan where their batsmen build a strong base before the likes of hitters like Glenn Maxwell and David Miller bring in the firepower. The bowling is strong like we discussed before with the likes of Axar Patel and Varun Aaron, who have managed to make an impact for their side in the last season and in this season as well.
The batting plan of KIXP might still have a lot to do with a bit of tinkering if the condition calls for the quick response from the batsmen, but the team has nothing to worry about in that way since they have got the best hitters in the history of IPL, Maxwell, and Miller who can manage and deliver it every time. The team is expecting same from them in this match as well.
With the news coming in, hosting team KKR has won the toss and its captain Gautam Gambhir has chosen to bowl and chase the target, which I think is a good move since KIXP has mostly good in cases against all the teams. Good luck to both the teams.
