Aizawl (mizonews.net): Headed by Chief Secretary of the State L.Tochhong, who is also the Chairman of Mizoram Remote Sensing Application Centre (MIRSAC), a Workshop on Spaced Based Information Support for Decentralised Planning (SIS – DP) was held today at Secretariat Conference Hall.
Addressing the workshop programme, the Chief Secretary said that it is necessary to have a good data in order to have a good planning. She also said that with the Remote Sensing and GIS knowledge, proper database can be prepared.
In the workshop organized by Department of Space and MIRSAC, North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) Director Dr S Sudhakar explained on the main features of SIS-DP Project, and said it is aimed at enhancing better development all over India, and is initiated under the sponsorship of Department of Space of the Central Government. He said that the main target of the project is to set up important database which will enhance good planning down to District level.
Dr Sudhakar also asked various departments to cooperate and to provide data and information as required. As there is a good Remote Sensing Centre in Mizoram which is at par with the national standard, it is hopeful that the project will be successful, Dr Sudhakar added.
MIRSAC Project Director Dr RK Lallianthanga also explained on the objectives of the Workshop and how the project is being carried out in the state. He said that once the project is completed, every Development Departments will avail it usefully. Senior Scientist Lalnunsiama Colney also explained on the critical study on SIS-DP Data Aibawk Block. With vote of thanks from Dr Vanlalzara, Chief Scientific Officer, Directorate of Science &Technology, the Workshop was concluded.
The workshop which was attended by experts from Government, Department representatives and MIRSAC Scientists, also saw the presence of Scientist ‘SG’ Dr S. Srinivasa Rao from National Remote Sensing Centre Hyderabad; Scientist ‘SD’ Prasankumar Gupta from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) Dehradun; and Scientist Suchitra Haobam Devi from North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC). They all explained on how the project is carried out all over the country.
